Walking

The Wawona area has several beautiful walks to enjoy. The "Meadow Loop" trail has about the flattest 4-miles in the park. It's perfect for a leisurely early morning or late afternoon walk. To access it, park your car in the Wawona Hotel parking lot, walk across the golf course along the paved road, and you'll see the trailhead on your left. A shorter, 20-minute "neighborhood" walk can be taken right from our home's front door. Go right on Fir Street to Spelt Rd, follow it to Louis Marty Rd., on your right. Walk to the dead end, and then there is a lightly marked trail in the same direction you were walking, down the hill, across a creek, and onto W. Bruce Rd, where you'll take a right, towards the Pine Tree Market. Take a right, once again at Chilnualna Falls Rd., and a right, one more time, at Mariposa Ave. Towards the end of that street, you'll see a dirt road curving to your left, and climbing the hill. Follow that road back to our home. A third, 2-mile round trip walk to the Swinging Bridge is one of our favorites. Drive to the end of Chilnualna Falls Rd. (over the bridge), and park the car on the parking area. Follow the trail in the same direction.
